Dr. Leverne Barrett

Leverne Barrett is a professor in the department and is a member of the University of Nebraska Academy of Distinguished Teachers. All of his degrees are from the Pennsylvania State University. He began his teaching career as a high school teacher specializing in administration. He has had years of experience consulting with community, organizational and governmental leaders at the national and international level. He joined the faculty at Nebraska in 1980, following teaching at the Pennsylvania State University. He has a joint appointment in teaching and extension. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate leadership courses. His extension appointment focuses on helping rural community leaders. He believes that teaching and student learning should be the primary focus of the professorate.
