
Dann Husmann is a professor in the department and serves as Associate Dean for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. He is a Nebraska native having received his B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Nebraska in 1982. He completed a M.S. in 1986 from Kansas State University, and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska in 1991. He began his career as an instructor of agricultural education in Arkansas City, Kansas from 1982 to 1987. In 1992, he
received a lecturer's position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to run the agricultural education program and develop the agriscience program for students to receive dual endorsement in agricultural education and biology. From 1994 to 2000 he was an assistant professor at South Dakota State University and coordinated the statewide program of Career and Technical Education. Dr. Husmann has taught extensively in the teacher preparation programs in Nebraska, Wisconsin, and South Dakota. He also taught in the graduate programs at Wisconsin in adult and continuing education, and human resources development. He currently has a teaching and extension appointment in the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Dr. Husmann's scholarly activity and research interests are in distance delivery systems and he has published articles in the Journal of Distance Education, Planning and Changing, the Michigan Community College Journal, and the Journal of Open Learning.
He is the advisor to the Agriculture Education student organization and is active in many on-campus and off-campus activities. He is married to Laure and they have a daughter, Elizabeth, and son, Mark.
